As of January 2009, FAA has documented 145 Flying Scooter installations, 24 currently operational.
Flyer Addicts Recent Research

I visited Stricker’s Grove for the first time on July 12 and to my disappointment, evidently the ride has been toned down this year. I was always able to snap cables at Kings Island but was unable to do it at Stricker’s Grove. The ride has moved locations and now sits between the Tornado and the other little roller coaster. The operator told me that they don’t have it running as fast as in previous years because if they crank it up the flying scooters can actually run into the wood of the Tornado coaster.
I’ll probably head to Columbus Zoo to check out their ride. Hopefully it’s a better experience.
